Wow! It’s been a while, eh? I’ve been meaning for quite some time (as in well over a year) to get back into the groove of updating the blog, if for nothing else than to have an account of the girls’ childhood, but I kept thinking how daunting a task it would be to give an update of all that has happened. While I enjoy writing, the crafting of it takes me a while, and I knew it would take FOREVER for me to put my spin on our lives over the last couple of years. If I tried to account all of that, I would be writing and writing and writing and writing. And then writing some more. I made a New Year’s resolution to get the blog running again. So, I’ve just decided to give a little Reader’s Digest condensed version of the last two years then just start writing from this point on. My goal is to post at least twice a month, though maybe I’ll get with it and do a little more. Of course, our lives aren’t THAT exciting, and I’m guessing nobody really cares about the mundane day to day activity. I have added a sidebar to include quotes that the girls make that I find interesting or amusing. I will probably add at times when I don’t have a new thread to post. I’m not quite sure if that sidebar will archive the quotes, so who knows how long they’ll stay up?
So, here’s a recap of life since 2009:
I stopped working full-time, so I could stay home with the girls. I never thought I would be the stay-at-home mother type, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ava started KINDERGARTEN this year and Savannah is in preschool for the second year. Where does the time go??? They’ll both be leaving me for college before I know it!
We’ve been fortunate enough to do some traveling and have more planned for 2011! Part of the truth of the travel lies in the fact that I hate throwing birthday parties (I actually like everything except the present time segment…there always seem to be some kind of drama involved!), so I’ve been able to coax the girls into traveling. (OK, so Savannah has really been too young to have a choice in it, but I was able to pull it off with Ava last year! ) I love to travel—as did Mike—so it’s been a great experience for us all. We’ve been to Disney World for Savannah’s birthday the last three years (What can I say? She was FREE each year because she was younger than 3 when we arrived each time. Plus we all got FREE dining. And if it’s free, it’s for me! Besides, what little princess wouldn’t want breakfast at Cinderella Castle on her birthday?) Last year we went to Great Wolf Lodge for Ava’s birthday and she’s lobbying to go back again this year. I love that she’s wanting to travel instead having a party, but water parks wear me out! There’s no wonder why the place has a spa…you about need a full body massage after chasing two preschoolers around there all day.
Savannah had her first haircut back in August, and Ava has yet to her first cut. Seriously. And I have NEVER even trimmed her bangs. It’s the strangest thing ever!
We had snow here the day after Christmas this year, and the girls had a big time playing it. Earlier in the week, Ava had just asked when it was going to be winter because she wanted it to snow. And here I was telling her I didn’t think we’d get any snow this year after all we got last year. What the heck do I know?

Alright, I know that’s not much, but hey, it’s better than nothing, right? Plus, it's 2:00 in the morning, and I need to get some sleep. After school tomorrow, I have to take Ava to her next set of ice skating lessons!
